The Beaches of St. Lucia

The Beaches of St. Lucia

All of St. Lucia’s beaches are open to the public, so go and explore. Here is a list of our must-visit beaches.

Reduit Beach

Located on the north coast of the island, Reduit Beach is just a stone’s throw from the popular Rodney Bay area. One of the more popular beaches on the island due to the number of hotels in the vicinity and its family-friendly atmosphere, Reduit offers beachgoers a wide variety of amenities, including a variety of dining options ranging from local vending stands to full service restaurants. Deck chairs and beach umbrellas are available for hire and water sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving are popular activities, as is sailing from the nearby Rodney Bay Marina.

Pigeon Point Beach

With its powdery white sands and lush tropical greenery, Pigeon Island Beach provides a beautiful setting ideal for picnics and sunbathing. Located on the South Coast near the town of Gros Islet, it is also a short walk from the Pigeon Island National Historic Park where visitors can explore ruins dating to the mid-eighteenth century, including the island’s fortress, barracks and several canons. Considered part of the national park, Pigeon Island Beach is well-maintained and easily accessible by a causeway from the main island.

Anse Des Pitons

The white sand on this crescent beach occupies a dramatic location in the cleavage of the Pitons. Accessible through the Sugar Beach resort or by boat, the beach offers crystal-clear water for swimming, excellent snorkeling and diving, and breathtaking scenery. The underwater area between the Pitons is protected as part of the National Marine Reserve.

Viex Fort Beach

Vieux Fort Beach is located on the Southern tip of the island, just two miles from the popular Maria Islands Nature Reserve. With sparkling waters and a warm stretch of powdery white sand, Vieux Fort Beach is an ideal spot for a relaxed beach excursion. The waters are protected by a reef formation located just off the coast, providing ideal conditions for swimming and snorkeling. There are no dining facilities at the beach and picnics are recommended. In addition to the coastline and Nature Reserve, visitors can also explore the nearby Mourne Coubaril Estate.

Vigie Beach

One of the busier beaches on the island, Vigie Beach is located on the Northwestern Coast of the island, adjacent to the Vigie Airport. Popular with locals, the beach is close to the St. Lucia capital, Castries, and is easily accessible from a number of the larger hotels in the area. Ideal for people-watching, the beach features several vending stands and beachside bars.

Cas En Bas

Visitors looking for a quieter, more rugged beach experience need look no further than Cas-en-Bas, a small village located on the remote East Coast of the island. At the end of a craggy dirt road the more adventurous will find a string of secluded beaches stretching along the Atlantic Ocean. The waters of Cas-en-Bas are protected by a reef formation just off the coast, providing safer swimming waters than usually found on this side of the island. Should visitors wish to explore further, they can hike ten minutes’ north along the coastline to a spot called ‘Secret Beach’, or thirty minutes South to Anse Lavoutte, a favoured spot for Leatherback Turtles to lay their eggs from March to July.
